LION Meetings
Build engagement, ownership and accountability with effective and productive team LION meetings. This simple format shows you how to use it in meetings or for 121s with your team.
L – Last week. What have you done since the last meeting. This is the accountability part of the meeting. Have they done what they said they would do?
I – Issues. We want to stop them coming to you with problems all the time. When they do, tell them to bring to the meeting. When they bring a problem they must bring what they propose as a solution. You want to build the habit of thinking for themselves. Even if the solution is not as good as one you have, better for them to go with their own solution. People own what they have a part in making. Discuss this with the team and get feedback from other and what their solutions are too.
O – Opportunities. Your team are the ones running the business day to day and so are best placed to find opportunities to improve and grow the business. Make sure you praise any suggestions and whatever they are, manage their expectations. If you can’t afford their suggestion right now, propose we will do it when sales hit £X amount.
N – Next week. What they commit to do before the next meeting. Depending on the frequency or type of the meeting this will differ. Set clear expectations for action. A good tip is to ask when they plan to do it, get a day and time where possible.
Clarity leads to power – when people know what do to when and how we get a high performance team
As you build the people they will build the business. They can only perform to the level of the training they get.
